OUR METHOD
PPAD considers all studies conducted under the theme of “Islam and Psychology” to be necessary and meaningful. Taking into account the multi-layered mental health needs of Muslim individuals and communities, PPAD proceeds with its activities in the following manner :
- The practices based on religious and cultural sensitivity, research in the field of Muslim mental health, and conceptual and philosophical studies, such as psycho-ontology, are considered complementary directions. It is acknowledged that these domains are all essential components of the research process, and focuses on each area as needed, depending on contextual demands.
- Applied, theoretical, philosophical, and cultural contributions are brought together under one framework to develop a comprehensive perspective on the relationship between Islam and psychology.
- Psycho-ontological concepts are discussed within the context of Islam and psychology, contributing to the construction of theoretical foundations.
- Contemporary publications are produced that incorporate Islamic concepts and practices such as repentance and belief in the hereafter into psychotherapy processes and their effectiveness is evaluated.
- The association develops treatment models: Both theoretical and applied work are carried out to develop religion- and culture-sensitive treatment models, such as the 4T and TMTT approaches.
- Faith-based approaches are included in clinical practice: Methods that respect religious and cultural sensitivities, such as consultations with religious scholars, are integrated into clinical practice.
- Educational programs are carried out: Educational activities include fundamental seminars for students, workshops that promote conceptual thinking, and advanced training programs.
