
Platform of Psychology in Islamic Intellectual Tradition Public Seminars
Between August 10 and October 5, experts from the field of mental health made presentations on various topics related to the difficulties encountered in daily life in the seminars held within the Psychology in Islamic Thought Platform. These presentations included the scientific literature of the subject, its place in Islamic thought and practical application suggestions.

Anxiety Workshop
If anxiety goes beyond natural limits, it can make daily life unsustainable and disrupt the functionality of the person. This seminar focused on the skills of recognizing and managing anxiety. In this seminar, questions such as “What is anxiety, how can its effect on people be understood?” and “What are the functional and non-functional aspects of anxiety?” as well as positive and negative coping methods for anxiety and correct coping methods were discussed.

Ways to Deal with Anger
The seminar explored anger as one of the most fundamental human emotions, examining its core components and questioning whether it is always negative. Methods of exercises were presented to illustrate effective ways of managing anger. The presentation also drew on insights from the Islamic intellectual tradition, addressing how this perspective informs both the understanding of anger and the methods of coping with it.

Coping with Stress
In this seminar, the definition of stress—commonly used to describe many situations in daily life—along with its sources, psychological aspects, and related problems, was discussed. Effective ways of coping with stress were also presented, enriched with references to the Islamic intellectual tradition.

Psychological Flexibility Presentation
This seminar explored the concept of psychological flexibility (Hayes et al., 2006)—the ability to act in line with one’s values despite internal and external challenges—and enriched it with references to the Qur’an, Hadith, and other religious texts.

Motivation and Roadmapping
In this seminar, the parts of motivation, internal and external motivation factors were examined and a content on how to create a road map was presented. In order to keep one’s motivation alive on the road to one’s life purpose; topics such as starting with hope, self-knowledge, analysis of the current situation, discovery of one’s abilities and goal setting were emphasized. References to Islamic intellectual tradition were also used in the presentation.

Gratitude and Mental Health
This seminar addressed the place of gratitude in both psychology and Islamic literature, highlighting its psychological benefits and contribution to mental well-being. Practical ways to cultivate and strengthen gratitude were also discussed.

This seminar explored the relationship between religion and science within the context of Islam, psychology, and psychotherapy, while also presenting the core philosophy underlying the public seminar series.
