The Second Session of the Psychology in Islamic Thought Seminars Was Held

The second session of the Psychology in Islamic Thought seminar series took place. Our Association President Dr. Taha Burak Toprak delivered a presentation titled ‘Islam and Psychotherapy: An Example of a Model and Practice’ during the seminar held on Thursday, April 4, at Istanbul University’s Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Congress and Culture Center.

The seminar focused on the impact of individuals’ understanding of truth, existence, and knowledge on psychotherapy practices. The intervention methods of various schools of psychotherapy and the different intervention techniques found in Islamic thought traditions were re-evaluated together in terms of their understandings of existence, knowledge, and humanity.

It was emphasized that the concepts of psychology and psychotherapy are directly related to intervention methods based on understandings of truth, existence, knowledge, and human nature in Islamic tradition.

Since it coincided with the month of Ramadan, a break was provided for iftar during the seminar. In the session that followed iftar, Dr. Toprak responded to the participants’ questions.
